Privacy Policy
This page explains, in plain English, what data unignosis.com collects, why, and what your rights are. We have written it short on purpose; there is not a great deal to say, because this website does almost nothing with your data.
Who we are
unignosis is a spin-out of the Portsmouth Artificial Intelligence and Data Science Centre (PAIDS) at the University of Portsmouth, United Kingdom. The data controller for this website is unignosis, with administrative support from the University of Portsmouth. You can contact us via the Contact page.
What this website does and does not do
- This website (unignosis.com) is a static marketing site. It serves five HTML pages: Home, About, Services, Contact and this Privacy page.
- It contains a single contact form on the Contact page, and nothing else: no sign-up flows, no comment systems, no analytics tracking, no logged-in areas.
- It contains no analytics tracking, no advertising, no third-party social plugins, no fingerprinting.
Cookies
unignosis.com sets no cookies of its own. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, may set strictly-necessary cookies (such as __cf_bm and cf_clearance) for bot mitigation and site security. These cookies do not track you across other websites and are exempt from consent requirements under UK GDPR / PECR.
Server logs
Our web server (Caddy) records standard access logs containing: timestamp, requested URL, HTTP status, response size, user-agent string, and the visitor's IP address. These logs:
- Are used only for security, abuse prevention and debugging.
- Are retained for 14 days at most and then automatically deleted.
- Are never shared with third parties or used for advertising.
Cloudflare also keeps standard edge access logs under its own privacy policy.
The contact form
When you submit the contact form on the Contact page, the data you enter (name, work email, institution and message) is sent over HTTPS to a Cloudflare Worker we operate, which forwards the message to our team inbox via Cloudflare Email Routing. We use lightweight, server-side spam controls (an invisible honeypot field and an origin check) and do not show third-party CAPTCHAs.
We use this data only to reply to your enquiry. We do not store it in a separate database, we do not pass it to advertising or analytics services, and we delete enquiry threads from our inbox once the conversation is concluded or after twelve months, whichever is sooner. Cloudflare processes the form submission as our processor under its own privacy policy.
Your rights under UK GDPR
You have the right to:
- Access any personal data we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct or delete it.
- Object to processing or restrict it.
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
Because this website holds no personal data beyond short-lived server logs, in practice there is very little to access, correct or delete, but the rights still apply.
Children
This website is aimed at university procurement, faculty and IT staff. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data about anyone under the age of 16.
Changes to this policy
If we change anything material, we will update the "Effective from" date at the top of this page and note the change at the bottom.
